Company: Nabisco
Years: 70's - maybe early 80's(?)
Hope everyone is having a fun summer! I know I haven't posted much lately, as family is dictating most of my time. Kids are busy creatures, so I spend many of my hours at the baseball/soccer fields and traveling too and from the baseball/soccer fields. But enough about me, lets talk about NABISCO SNAPS COOKIES!!!!
You know what?
I don't remember these.
The boxes are WAY cool, and I imagine I was around (as in living, not fat) when these cookies were around, but I just plain don't remember them. They came in 4 flavors, Chocolate, Chocolate chip, Ginger, and Vanilla.
How cool are these?
Like I said, I don't remember them, but enough people do to create a Facebook page for them. https://www.facebook.com/NabiscoSnapCookies
Yep, Nabisco Ginger Snaps have a Facebook page. (I'm pretty sure they would just send me annoying game requests, though, so I didn't friend them. No I won't play Farmville with you, Nabisco.)
Oh, shoot, I have to get my 12 year old to baseball practice ASAP.......talk amongst yourselves about these sweet treats from the 70's (and maybe 80's? Anyone know???)
If I could go back in time, these would certainly be on my list of must try treats.
Until next time, shoppers............enjoy your summer!
I remember the Chocolate Chip Snaps. I never forget a cat face! :D
ReplyDeleteI vividly remember these all thru my younger years; especially the chocolate and choc chips! They were my snack in the back seat of the car on long car trips when I was young!
ReplyDeleteFans of "It's a Wonderful Life" will recall the line where George says to his daughter, "Zuzu, my little ginger snap!"
ReplyDeleteI loved the chocolate chip and the chocolate snaps!
ReplyDeleteWe always had these around the house in the 70's; my mother bought them frequently, and relatives would sometimes give them to us as treats. Of the four varieties, I particularly liked the chocolate chip; the taste was similar to Chips Ahoy!, but somewhat sweeter.
ReplyDeleteI used to love putting my cookie on the picture of the cookie on the box. They HAD to be the same size...lol
ReplyDeleteI used to love putting my cookie on the picture of the cookie on the box. They HAD to be the same size...lol
ReplyDeleteMy mom would buy me a box of chocolate snaps when we went to the grocery store, to keep me busy while she bought groceries. I LOVED them! That would have been in the late 60s/early 70s.
ReplyDeleteMe too! The chocolate chip ones. We called them kitty cookies 😊
DeleteI had them in the 60's as a child! Loved them!
ReplyDeleteI remember last buying a box of them from the 7-Eleven store in 1987, and that was the last time I saw them around. I kept the box as a happy reminder, and I still have it, almost 30 years on. Some people even remember a fifth version of the cookies, featuring a lemon-lime flavor, and they came in a half-white, half-green box.
ReplyDeleteThese were popular in our home. Sunshine Biscuits was right off Bordentown ave in Sayreville, NJ. I can still remember the smell of baked goods whenever we'd drive by there.
ReplyDeleteWHERE CAN I FIND THESE CHOCOLATE COOKIES? I MISS THESE, THEY WERE SO GOOD, EVEN BETTER THEN WHAT'S AROUND TODAY! WHERE CAN I FIND THESE AGAIN?
ReplyDeleteThey were discontinued in 1994/95
DeleteThey can be purchased on Ebay and Amazon

Ooooooooooh I loved these!!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember sneaking these cookies in the bathroom when i was taking baths as a kid (boy that sounds gross now. Eww).
Anyway, there was nothing that compared to the taste of those chocolate cookies. I was so sad when I couldn't find them anymore :(
I was born in 1981 & I remember I loved the chocolate snaps. I always think about them but no one ever knows what I'm talking about. I think they used to come in a tiny box similar to the tiny Barnum's Animals Crackers box. Wish I can taste them one more time!
ReplyDeleteNabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers, taste the same.
DeleteI loved them in the 70's. My daughter just asked where we can get them. Amazon does not have them.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember this...In a box of the Vanilla Snaps there were at least two snaps that would be half vanilla colored and half pink! My sister and I always fought over who would get the half pink cookie.
ReplyDeleteNabisco is a traitor to its own customers. These things were delicious came in small boxes. And what happened to the tidbit by the way??? Down with nabisco!
ReplyDeleteI just tried some Chips-a-hoy thins and it's pretty close to the chocolate chip snaps!
ReplyDeleteWhere can I purchase them from
ReplyDeletediscontinued in 1994/95
DeleteHowever, you can buy Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers, they taste the same
DeleteIf you mean the Chips-A-Hoy thins, they have them at all of the grocery stores in Southern California, such as Albertsons, Stater Bros, VONS, etc. I like the oatmeal chocolate chip thins the best :-)
ReplyDeleteI had them in the 60's as a kid. I never saw them in the 80's. They were my fav cookie. Wish I Had them right now. Nabisco..bring them back and the right way. The exact way please!
ReplyDeleteNabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers taste the same.
DeleteI loved the chocolate snap ones they discontinued them I wish they would bring them back😞
ReplyDeletePlease bring back these cookies they were the best.
ReplyDeleteTry Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers, they taste the same.
DeleteMy all time favorite as a kid. Please bring them back Nabisco!!!!
ReplyDeleteNabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers tastes the same.
DeleteI now buy Nabisco's Famous Chocolate Wafer Cookies and they are as good as the Chocolate Snaps. I believe it is the very same recipe, however, the Wafer is larger and thinner than the original chocolate snaps. I am dunking them in Ice Cold Whole Milk as I type this! Look for them on the very top shelf of the cookie isle in a yellowish long sleeve with clear wrap. I hope all you 1965 kids love these wafers and the flavor brings back the same memories from childhood for each of you.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Chocolate Wafer Cookies (although they are expensive!). To my own mind, they are not similar to the Snaps - the Snaps had a very crispy-but-dense texture, quite unique among cookies! I bet that is why so many favored them.
DeleteI did notice they were similar in taste! As noted above, the texture is different, but the recipe is as close to the orginal that you can find.
DeleteOh my God, I almost forgot those existed but now I remember them vividly. I used to get the chocolate or chocolate chip ones and they were amazing, and now I wish they'd make a comeback.
ReplyDeleteThey were my favorite . I used to buy the box for 30 cents . Always remember that then I bought them for my kids in the beginning of the 90s , then they dissapear
ReplyDeleteYes! I do remember. I grew up with them and my mother putting a box in my lunch box. I loved them so much. Childhood memories ❤️
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I loved those cookies. My favorite was the chocolate chip. It would be so nice to have a limited addition for the holidays. I bet it would sell out overnight. First in line right here.
