From the Cereal Aisle: Circus Fun

Product: Circus Fun Cereal
Company: General Mills
Years: 1986-?

Coulrophobia
[kool-ruh-foh-bee-uh]
- noun -
An abnormal fear of clowns.

There have been several cereals over the years who had clowns for mascots. Kaboom...Sugar Krinkles...Sugar Smacks....and each one ended the same way.

MURDER.

OK, I'm making that up. Most just ended up giving people a delicious breakfast.
And I guess Circus Fun did the same.
It hit the shelves in 1986, and like the multitudes of other sugary kid friendly cereals to hit the shelves in the mid 80's, it only lasted a few years before being discontinued.

Circus fun had a lot going on in that box.....several different shapes (Hoops and balls), several different marshmallows (horses, elephants, lions, bears, tigers), and one underlying motive: MURDER. (OK, mostly shapes and marshmallows with very little murder.)
I remember eating this as a kid, and I loved it. It was like Fruit Loops, Kix, Trix and Lucky Charms all got together (Bow-chicka wa-wa...) and this was the offspring it produced. It was very sweet, very delicious, and as long as you didn't have coulrophobia you probably enjoyed it.If you did have coulrophobia, however, the commercials probably freaked you out.

It really was a pretty good cereal, and I am just kidding when it comes to the clowns, and all the MURDER......I think this cereal just fell victim to the over saturation of similar cereals in the 80's, and went away when people started to get a more healthy outlook on breakfast for their kids.Which is a shame.....

Because they all float in milk down here..........

VACATION! (It's all I ever wanted)

Sorry for the lack of posts, loyal shoppers. Summers get kind of hectic, with kids having baseball games, baseball tournaments, soccer games, soccer tournaments, the occasional trip to the pool, mowing the lawn, Remowing the lawn (need to get those blades sharpened), curing cancer, playing Scrabble, and the such. But don't fret, New shipments of forgotten groceries from our past are being loaded up on trucks as we speak (or as I type, and you read.....you get it......) and will be headed to the shelves of Gone But Not Forgotten Groceries soon. Summer won't last forever, so get out and enjoy it. I promise, new cereals, sodas, chips and snacks will be coming soon!

But for now, more of this vacation thing!

From the Endangered Groceries List - Larry the Cable Guy Mac N' Cheese

I don't even know what to say about this.

Sometimes I see products in the store that just make me sad. This one....this one right here......this one made me extremely sad. When you go from the huge up and coming comic that everyone wanted to see....the one person everyone wanted in their movies and sitcoms..........to this: Having your own generic (it was in the dollar section, guys) Mac & Cheese (and strangely enough, doing commercials for heartburn medicine). Sometimes the fall comes quickly, and I hope Larry the Cable guy takes it all in stride (and stuck away a few million dollars on the journey.)

Git R' Done, Larry......Git R' Done.

Sigh.

Get it while you can, kids. I expect this to be gone REAL soon.

From the Snack Aisle - Nabisco Snaps

Product: Snap Cookies
Company: Nabisco
Years: 70's - maybe early 80's(?)

Hope everyone is having a fun summer! I know I haven't posted much lately, as family is dictating most of my time. Kids are busy creatures, so I spend many of my hours at the baseball/soccer fields and traveling too and from the baseball/soccer fields. But enough about me, lets talk about NABISCO SNAPS COOKIES!!!!

You know what?

I don't remember these.

The boxes are WAY cool, and I imagine I was around (as in living, not fat) when these cookies were around, but I just plain don't remember them. They came in 4 flavors, Chocolate, Chocolate chip, Ginger, and Vanilla.

How cool are these?

Like I said, I don't remember them, but enough people do to create a Facebook page for them. https://www.facebook.com/NabiscoSnapCookies

Yep, Nabisco Ginger Snaps have a Facebook page. (I'm pretty sure they would just send me annoying game requests, though, so I didn't friend them. No I won't play Farmville with you, Nabisco.)

Oh, shoot, I have to get my 12 year old to baseball practice ASAP.......talk amongst yourselves about these sweet treats from the 70's (and maybe 80's? Anyone know???)

If I could go back in time, these would certainly be on my list of must try treats.

Until next time, shoppers............enjoy your summer!
